Tests Carried Out Before Commissioning
1. Visual Inspection

2. Continuity Test

To ensure conductor continuity throughout the line.

Continuity tester or multimeter is used

3. Insulation Resistance (IR) Test

To check insulation condition of conductors.
Method:
Performed using a Megger
Resistance measured between:
Phase to phase
Phase to earth
Requirement:
IR value should be high (in Mega Ohms).
4. Polarity Test

To ensure correct phase connection and phase sequence.

Prevents wrong connections in distribution systems.
5. Earth Resistance Test
Purpose:
To check effectiveness of earthing system.
Method:
Earth tester is used
Earth resistance should be within permissible limits
6. Clearance and Safety Check
Verify ground clearance at crossings (roads, buildings, railways)
Check minimum distance from trees and structures
Confirm compliance with IER / CEA rules
7. Mechanical Load Test

To check mechanical strength of conductors and supports.
